There is no Switch version, and no Switch release date has been announced. Welcome to Elderfield is currently sold only on PC / Windows via Steam. The store platform field lists Windows alone — macOS and Linux are both unsupported (false in the platform field) — and the official press release and reveal trailer both say “PC via Steam”, with no Nintendo platform mentioned anywhere.

The evidence chain

  1. Store platform field: Steam’s appdetails returns windows: true, mac: false, linux: false.
  2. Official press release: the August 5, 2026 release announcement reads “coming to PC via Steam on September 10, 2026”.
  3. Press reporting: on August 25, 2026, Power Up Gaming wrote, “As confirmed by Cote, there will be no console release for Welcome to Elderfield… only be available to download through the Steam Store”.
  4. Community: the r/welcometoelderfield “Console release?” thread contains no official console plan, and players generally assume a port would depend on sales.

Note that the third item is a journalist relaying the developer rather than a public post by the developer, and that a Facebook gaming page claiming a simultaneous Switch / PS5 / Xbox launch carries no first-party sourcing — this page does not rely on it.

What to wait for

“No version right now” is not the same as “cancelled forever”, but you should not comfort yourself with “it will obviously be ported”. Judge it on hard evidence only: a Nintendo eShop store page for the game, or an announcement through official channels (Steam news, the official Bluesky / X / YouTube accounts, or publisher Kwalee). Until then, any “Switch release date” claim is not official information.

Playing handheld today

There is one officially verified path: Steam Deck. The game is marked Verified on Steam and supports Steam Cloud, so you can play on the Deck and continue on your PC at home. Other Windows handhelds can in principle run the PC build, but only the Steam Deck has been validated.

What players and the press say

  • In the subreddit’s “Console release?” thread the reasoning is pragmatic. Wonderful_Emu_6483 replies, “If it does it will depend on popularity and will probably take several years before it gets ported to consoles”; Due_Astronaut_1372 adds, “i hope so… according to google it’s only planned to release on steam.”
  • Be careful with social posts claiming a simultaneous Switch / PS5 / Xbox launch: they have no first-party source and contradict the official “PC via Steam” wording.
  • The official evidence will only appear in two places: a Nintendo eShop page, or an announcement from the official channels.

The above is player discussion and press relay, not an official announcement.

Boundary

Xbox and PlayStation status is on the Xbox page; PC requirements and launch details are on the release date page; pricing is on the price page.
